“PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a computer-based language test that offers international students and migrants the fastest, fairest and most flexible way of proving their English language proficiency for immigration and student visas.” – Extracted from Pearson Website http://pearsonpte.com/
Both PTE and IELTS test your English proficiency and are language competency tests. PTE Academic is completely computer based testing.
IELTS and PTE have similar test components: Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing. However, there are certain unique features in content pattern which differentiates PTE from IELTS.
There are many other English language competency tests available to test takers to prove their language ability. While all the tests are designed to measure competency levels, the testing format and marking process might differ from each other.
Use the linked table to make a quick comparison of different competency tests.
Up to 5 business days.
For most purposes, like visa and academic requirements, it is valid for two years.
